The two agencies have different roles:
Scottish Forestry
Role: Regulator and public body for forestry in Scotland.
Responsible for:
- Developing and implementing forestry policy
- Supporting and regulating public and private forests
- Administering grants and felling permissions
- Promoting sustainable forestry
Forestry and Land Scotland
Role: Manages Scotland’s nationally owned forests and land on behalf of Scottish Ministers.
