This group is an advisory forum for issues that will inform the future of forestry in Scotland. It’s not a decision-making group but the discussions help shape ideas and plans.
NSG discussions include:
- strategic issues that influence the Scottish Government’s long-term vision for forestry
- outcomes and delivery of climate change, biodiversity and forestry targets
- implementation, monitoring, and statutory reporting of Scotland’s forestry strategy

- private organisations from across the forest, environment, and land use sector
