Last updated :20 Mar 2025

Topic: Manage forests

Sub topic: Environmental Impact Assessment

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) evaluates the effect of project or proposal on the environment. This EIA scoping checklist will help you assess the likely impacts of your forestry project.

Summary

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a tool used to assess how a proposal could affect the environment.

What is scoping?

Scoping is the second stage of an EIA. It takes place once a decision is made that your forestry project will require our consent.  It identifies what needs to be covered in the assessment and reported.

You can use this EIA Scoping Checklist to identify potential environmental impacts of your forestry project during this stage.

Adapted from the European Commission’s checklist, it is tailored to meet the needs of forestry-related projects.
