Key Highlights
Woodland Creation - highest woodland creation figures in decades of 15,000 hectares. We received constructive feedback from stakeholders including Confor and Woodland Trust. 


John Risby presented the new strategic approach to restoring Scotland’s rainforest.
Focus on:
Tackling fragmentation, overgrazing, invasive species, and climate change.
Coordinated funding and partnership working.
Nine priority areas identified for landscape-scale delivery.
Group supported the people-centred and phased approach.
Discussion included potential for biodiversity credits as future funding.


Learning for Casework Project aims to address variable staff experience and improve consistency in casework. Matt Young outlining this builds on the new Learning & Skills Development team and strategy. It will include refreshed induction and technical training and launching the WOODS programme for Woodland Officers.
