This report assesses the potential impact of forestry on waders, black grouse and raptors at a proposed new woodland site at North Harrowhope.

Summary

Hen harrier and merlin are the main species.

The surveys consisted of one visit in:

  • early April 2021
  • late April 2021
  • May 2021 (for waders during the breeding season)
  • May 2023 (for black grouse during the lekking season)

The area surveyed consisted of all compartments featured in the attached map.

The area is currently used as an upland sheep farm. The neighbouring land consists of commercial forestry plantation and livestock farming.
