Current Applications for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consent

A Scoping Opinion request for consent under the Forestry (Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 for woodland creation at Glenochar has been submitted to Central Conservancy by Euroforest Silviculture (formerly Pryor & Rickett Silviculture) on behalf of True North Real Asset Partners (formerly True North European Real Estate Partners). 

Glenochar is located to the south west of Elvanfoot in South Lanarkshire.

The whole property is circa 1,730 ha with circa 760 ha being proposed for woodland creation comprising a mixture of site suitable species such as: Sitka spruce, Norway spruce, Scots pine and Native mixed broadleaves More information about the proposal is available on the Glenochar Forest web pages.

Snar is located to the south west of Crawfordjohn in South Lanarkshire.

The whole property is circa 653 ha with circa 330 ha being proposed for woodland creation comprising of Sitka spruce, Norway spruce, Douglas fir, Scots pine, native broadleaves and open ground.

Warblaw is located to the south of Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway.

The whole property is circa 1,051 ha with circa 414 ha being proposed for woodland creation comprising of Sitka spruce, native broadleaves, diverse conifer, productive broadleaves and open ground.

Scottish Forestry issued a variation to the original enforcement notice to allow certain works. This notice was subsequently withdrawn. Regulation 3(1) of the Forestry (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 states:

(a) EIA consent has been granted in respect of that EIA forestry project

(b) the EIA forestry project is carried out in accordance with the EIA consent

A Scoping Opinion request for consent under the Forestry (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 for woodland creation at Glen Dye Moor has been submitted to Grampian Conservancy by Scottish Woodlands Ltd on behalf of Par Forestry IV L.P.

The proposal is for 2,755ha of woodland creation comprised of native broadleaves, native pinewood, commercial conifer and natural regeneration located approximately 14km southwest of Banchory, Aberdeenshire and encompasses the hills of Badymicks, Edendocher, and Clachnaben.

The public consultation on the EIA report has now closed and we are now reviewing the responses from stakeholders before making a decision on the project proposed.

The Environmental report was prepared by Scottish Woodlands for consideration and comment and made available for public consultation for a period of 30 days as required under the Forestry (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017.

The proposal is for the establishment of a mixed forest totalling 139 hectares made up of productive conifer planting, new native woodland and areas of open ground.

The EIA report was prepared following Scottish Forestry’s EIA screening determination dated 22 September 2017, which highlighted the potential for significant effects on the environment relating to the cumulative impact of woodland creation on black grouse. 

Our decision will be made available and published on the website following our analysis of all the feedback received.
