Action for Black Grouse

Last updated :28 Oct 2024

Topic: Manage forests

Sub topic: Biodiversity

This note summarises the action being undertaken by Forestry Commission Scotland (now Scottish Forestry), either ourselves or in partnership with others, to help conserve the black grouse in Scotland.

Summary

The black grouse is one of the most rapidly declining bird species in the UK and is a UK priority species. It needs a mosaic of woodland and moorland areas and edges, and conservation action needs to be planned at a landscape scale.
